Introducing our ‘Joy Ride’ Campaign Designers

We would go so far as to call them ‘creative geniuses’.

We are always thrilled and humbled by the talented artists that we have the privilege of working with here at LB, and this group is certainly no exception.

Get a peek into the creativity, inspiration, and wisdom of some of our Joy Ride campaign partners Mamé, MRKNTN,  Constance Massicotte and Chad Lavoie below.

MEET MAMÉ

Who are you & how would you describe your brand?

We are two young creative women, Magalie and Mélanie (the ma and the mé in mamé). mamé is a young Quebec company of handmade, crocheted clothing and accessories. Our mission is to be the colourful alternative in inclusive haute couture, and to be respectful of the environment. With our gender-neutral and colourful clothes that are made for all body types, we aim to support a new image of diversity with a capital D. What we want is to break down the barriers so that this new generation, which is so eager to show its colours, feels engaged by what we do.

mamé is not just a piece of clothing, it’s self-actualization. We represent the new generation, the new ways of doing things and we want to be an example in our industry, to show that it is possible to create beautiful eco-responsible clothing where everyone can find what they are looking for. The media and influential people in the industry are very interested in us; we are definitely a part of the next generation of the Montreal fashion scene.

What inspires you?

We are very inspired by the people around us, the creative youth of Montreal who pursue their dreams despite the challenges. It’s also very inspiring for us to see that there are more and more new brands that support diversity and respect for the environment. Times are changing and we want to be a part of that change.

What is something you would tell your younger self?

It’s funny to say, but if you believe in something, act, and think later. We believe that once things are in motion, it’s easier to believe in it, to move forward and to make real projects and real plans. By taking it one step at a time, a project seems much more manageable and anything becomes possible!

MEET MRKNTN

Who are you & how would you describe your brand?

MRKNTN comes from the eclectic mind of Montreal designer Markantoine. Through a bold approach to design, the conceptual skatewear brand exudes some nostalgia by blending historic techniques, contrasting cinematic references and a fiery energy. Our innovative team firmly believes in the power of a strong and committed vision and, season after season, MKRNTN is talked about and worn.

What inspires you?

History, music, movies, everything that reminds me of a memory and allows me to tell a story through my collections. To contrast themes that are not supposed to go together.

What is something you would tell your younger self?

Am I a finalist on Rupaul Drag Race and I’m not aware of it? HAHAHA ! That’s the question they always ask the finalists. I always wanted to tell a story and I wanted to do it in a different way. I wanted to be an archaeologist, a cosmetic surgeon, a cook, an actor … but I finally fell into the same pot of magic potion as Donnatella and here I am making clothes hahaha. I would tell Lil’Marky to go for it, not to be afraid but above all to trust yourself, because even though you are a Libra ascending Libra, you know what you are doing, and your decisions are far from being bad. BIG LOVE.

MEET CONSTANCE MASSICOTTE

Who are you & how would you describe your brand?

I’m a meme queen, designer and actress.

My brand has a very 2000s/punk vibe, I do a lot of hand embroidery, I dye fabric, bedazzle garments and accessories. I love glitters and froufrou.

What inspires you?

Nature, summer, I love Spanish villas and beautiful architecture, food (vegan tacos, pickles, etc.), icons like Pamela Anderson and Amy Winehouse, picnics on the beach, driving.

What is something you would tell your younger self?

Keep trusting your instinct and surround yourself with positive people♡ and don’t waste time on boys, give love to yourself:) u got this bb ily!!!

MEET CHAD LAVOIE

Who are you & how would you describe your brand?

Chad Lavoie is an artisan based in Sutton, QC, Canada. He describes himself as a whimsical bohemian with a diverse vocabulary. See the bio on his website for an 8-minute video on his way of moving forward.

www.c-la-v.com

What inspires you?

I feel like inspiration becomes personal at some point in life; that we are inspired by our own unique experiences on Earth; we inspire each other but we also distract each other from our own truth; I believe that inspiration can’t be fully explained or understood.

What is something you would tell your younger self?

Nothing, otherwise it would be cheating 😋
