From t-shirts to buildings, his work is everywhere and his impact on the art community is unparalleled. Keith Haring rose to prominence upon moving to New York City where he became heavily influenced by 1980s street culture. He became close friends with artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol as well as others in the burgeoning art community. 

He devoted his career to creating public art that was accessible to all. Most notably, he leveraged the NYC subway system as his canvas, using chalk to draw his iconic outlines on unused advertising panels. This drew huge public recognition. Over the course of his career, he produced over 50 public artworks across the globe and even worked with figures like Madonna. Much of Haring’s work was deeply rooted in social activism, fighting for the oppressed and against convention. This includes advocating for safe sex and AIDS awareness.
