From improving our energy efficiency, to developing 100% recyclable shopping bags and introducing an in-store recycling program, we’ve taken several steps to do better for our planet.
In addition to reassessing some of our own operations, we’ve also been seeking out and supporting various brands and products lines that have incorporated sustainable practices into their manufacturing. From Birkenstock to Matt & Nat, our eco-conscious picks fall into three categories: products that are vegan, products that are made with recycled materials and products that are made with organic cotton.
Free from animal-derived products, many of our favourite footwear brands offer fully vegan collections. That means you can get the same great styles, like the Docs 1460, but more sustainably made. Dr. Martens vegan collection features a selection of their signature boots and sandals, all leather-free.
We’re always on the hunt for products made entirely or partially from innovative upcycled materials. Matt & Nat’s Purity collection is a great example of this. In addition to being vegan, each item’s outerbody is made of—wait for it—recycled windshield glass! Even the Stan Smith recently got a sustainable makeover with the introduction of two new high-performance recycled materials from adidas: Primegreen (recycled polyester) and Primeblue (upcycled plastic waste).
Grown using methods that have a low impact on the environment, organic cotton is an eco-conscious, natural material. This season, we incorporated it into our house brand, Floyd. Our fan favourite Lennox sneaker now features a fully organic upper that’s been dyed using sustainable dying methods. It’s the perfect casual pick for spring/summer.
