The Snow Brigade Has Arrived

You’ll dig this.

Winter can be a wonderland… but it’s not easy for everyone, especially those with limited mobility. Enter the BGC Dawson Snow Brigade, powered by Vans MTE winter boots, here to lend a helping hand!

Every time there is a snowfall, the Snow Brigade is ready to roll.

In a brilliant initiative spearheaded by BGC Dawson, youth gain hands-on work experience and build community by shoveling snow for their neighbours who might need a little help. This incredible service allows more freedom for those who may not typically be able to venture out on snowy days.

The goal is to make winter a little less troublesome and offer youth in the program the opportunity to build skills, like reliability and leadership, that they’ll use for future jobs. Youth are paid for each house they shovel, which definitely is a cherry on top! This project beautifully benefits the youth, their neighbours, and their whole community.

We were so inspired by the BGC Dawson Snow Brigade that we teamed up with Vans to make sure they stayed nice and warm while out doing their duties.

The Vans MTE boots were the obvious choice for the job. Outfitted with heavy-duty tread and super-warm lining, the Vans MTE series are made for all weather, even frigid Quebec winters.

Check out the video below to see the youth, and the boots, in action.

Big thank you to these inspirational youth of the Snow Brigade and a special thank you to Sierra and Christina for welcoming our team to join them on their shoveling run.

As well, a special mention to the awe-inspiring leaders of the Snow Brigade: Darley Polony, assisted by Emmett Carriere.

And finally, shoutout to François Haché who did the videography, photography, and editing for this special project.
